2007 ML350 Rear SAM
I retrofitted camera with motorised flap which needs an additional ECU (N42) but my car doesn’t have one.
But according to some people, it would be possible to control camera flap with rear SAM.
As I am beginner and not specialised in electric ,I don’t know how and where to connect the camera flap electrical wiring on rear SAM.
could you please help?
Thank you very much!
regards
M/B does not provide instructions for retrofitting back-up camera but there are expensive modules that must be installed (read.W164 pdf)
I read all your suggestions and would like to thank you for all detailed information and advices.
if you have a good used Rear SAM A1649005401, please let me know. I have the same problems on my 2011 R350 Bluetec.
Thank you in advance.
I’ll try to find a used one on eBay.
Do you have any suggestions for a scanner that will be able to program the Rear Sam.
I’m thinking to buy a iCarsoft.
Which models and brands do you suggest to consider?
Thank you.
I have a 08' ML63 with rear SAM 164.540.96.62 . I have been looking at the general install videos, posts and the Mercedes TB that says you must swap 164.540.78.45 and 164.540.88.45. 1St question: Do I still need to find the 164.540.11.01 SAM or is mine/or other versions compatible? I have hitch and arms, but still need to get the two wire harness ordered.

There is a Libert S Lewis on Facebook in Mt. Vernon NY that advertises reprograming SAM's, TCU's and Keys. I talked with him, I'll use him next time.

My X164 GL 320 CDI has a fried rear sam due to rear sunroof water leak. Your post is of great help, so if a buy an used rear sam, it will not need programing, I guess that if the part number´s 4 last digits do not match, for example, ZB 164 540 XX XX, it is not an issue. All of the used rear sams I have looked at, do not match the last 4 digits. This was not an issue for you?
Regards.
When you get the new seals, make sure that you remove all traces of the old seal which was stuck to the tail lamp (assembly line morons). Then carefully place the seals on the body opening and then install the lamp.
As for the fuel level problem, did you remove the black plastic towers when you disassembled the rear SAM? Because there is always corrosion underneath them.
Go back to the SAM and find connector "C" and locate wire #27 Blue/Blk. Pos., #33 Brn/Blk Ground & #40 Grn?Blk Pos. Turn the key to pos. #2 and test the wires.
Hi Dear
Would you please tell me how to measure the Voltage in the Wire with a Multimeter ? ..... Should I put the black connection of the multimeter in the Ground One (pin 40 ) and the red in On of the 2 others ( 27 or 33 ), Am I Wrong ?
Thanks
