Unable to set time via comand, no GPS time.

Hi Everyone, new W164 ML500 owner here.

I have searched here and other places on the internet and I have found many references to setting the time via the Comand interface. Unfortunately my problem seems to be different from the others.

I have the navigation systems installed. When I go to the time set option on the Comand system I simply get a "No GPS time" message and my only option is "OK", if I select that it simply backs out of the menu. No manual set or other options!

Any advice? The incorrect clock (Comand and analog) is driving me crazy!

Thanks in advance,
Rudi

If you do not have an owner's manual, get one.

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately setting the time like this is not an option for me. When going into the settings menu there is simply no date/time option. In my manual (like the screenshot you posted, top of page 166) it actually says this option is not available if you have the Comand + nav option installed.

I am not sure why it is not picking up GPS time. From what I could find on the internet it looks like I should still have a manual time setting option via Comand but there is nothing. Since I do not have a map CD/DVD I cannot be sure if the nav system is working. I am not really interested in the nav system, the maps available for my part of the world (South Africa) are quite poor (and very expensive) compared to third party GPS systems like Garmin or even Google maps so I would rather use those. But even without a CD it should still find sats and get the time.

I appreciate your help!
Thanks, Rudi

Interesting, would it work for the analog clock as well? i suppose it get's it's time from the Comand system so it should. Any other systems that might not be happy with the reset?

Yeah, all your memory presets... but I wouldn't consider that matters.

I had the same issue with GL320.

Just get a cheap eBay gps antenna & swap with the factory one, it will then let you set the time.

There is no way to access the instrument clock function without the factory command in place.

Yes correct & the eBay gps antenna fits at the back of the factory command unit
