2007 W164 ML500

2007 ML500 HVAC will not switch from hot to cold or from cold to hot (intermittent)

Hello. This is my first post. on MB World. I have a 2007 W164 ML 500 and lately I have had the HVAC stuck on hot even though I have the switches set to AC/Cold. I know the AC compressor is running because it is "sweating" all over the driveway. The problem has come and gone a couple of times over the last couple of weeks. In fact, today it was cold for the first time this fall and I could not get it to blow hot air even though I switched off the AC and have the temp selectors on hot.

I have read posts relating to the earlier W163 models that suggest this may be the result of a malfunctioning blend door actuator. I have not been able to find any threads relating specifically to the W164 model.

I'm hoping someone may be able to help confirm whether or not this is likely the result of a malfunctioning blend door actuator. Also, are there any known DIY threads on replacing the part; glove box/dash removal etc. on a W164 ?

Finally, I have had trouble finding the part for the W164 online. All of the parts I see for sale are for the W163. Anyone have a link to the part for a 2007 ML500? How about a MB part number ?

Any help you can provide will be much appreciated as winter is fast approaching and I need to get this fixed ASAP.
