My daughter's 2010 ML350 was parked in my driveway during last night's Nor'easter and this piece of trim fell off. I see a lot of posts about chrome peeling off the trim but nothing about this. There appears to be a black plastic clip that remained attached on the left hand side. Does anyone know the proper way to reinstall? I'm guessing I should remove the black plastic part and slide it into the groove on the chrome, but would the part then clip back on or should I 3M double-sided tape it? TIA...

This usually occurs when scraping ice from the windows and breaks the rivet.

What is your vin# and what side, left or right rear?

4JGBB8GB8AA585667; never touched it, just found the trim piece on the ground next to the car. As shown in the photo (stock photo, not her actual car) it's the left rear. The rear wiper was at about 130°, likely from the weight of snow.

Take notice that the trim strip part numbers do not indicate which is left or right, so you will have to let the dealer figure it out.
