Lurching on approach
The scenario:
on a normal day it happens maybe once or twice. Depending on driving habits, I know mine are not always the best.
scenario 1. I will be in a parking lot usually and I will begin to approach an open parking space. Slowing down and transmission in gear 2, or 1 (if possible to get in that gear at approach) and the rpms will drop from 1500 to about 1000 and the car will lurch without any input from me. I’ll call the lurch of “call insurance company, needs new bumper”. It’s aggressive and if your foot is not on brake or near it, your hitting who’s in front of you.
scenario 2. Same situation above, only that this time at a much fast speed approaching light, foot applied to brake, and downshifting again into 2nd and the rpms will do same thing. They drop below 1000rpm and it’s like the computer or throttle body or air intake is trying to catch back up to some determined point and it overcompensates for what it’s calling for and does the lurching thing. Is this related to more than a transmission/adaptive reset issue, can it be prevented and stopped by a tune or what’s happening.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I had the same problem last year and a trans. oil & filter change did the trick.
Understand that to do this, special equipment is necessary, which you probably already know.
