2008 ML350 Gasoline Left Hand
2008 ML350 W164 ABS, ESP, and No speedometer
Have a 2008 ML350 Left hand drive. Wife brought it home yesterday with the ABS, ESP, Traction control and check Engine light on. Vehicle was not in limp mode. It drives normally. It shifts normally. ABS will still actuate with pedal pulse. Able to pull the following:
P2158 - Vehicle Speed Sensor B
C30E - Signal "Vehicle speed" on CAN bus in not present or faulty
9045 - "Vehicle speed" from control module A1(instrument cluster) is not available on CAN bus
C121 - No CAN data received from control module N47-5(ESP and BAS control module)(71/203/209)
1923 - No CAN data received from control module N47-5(ESP control module)
1373 - No CAN data received from control module Traction Systems
0925 - "Vehicle Speed at font axle from control module Traction Systems is unreasonable. (P2158)
I am using an iCarsoft MB V3.0. It seems to run everything, but I can not access the Electronic Stability Control. It doesn't come up with a Smart Scan. If I use manual scan, to access Electronic Stability Control it gives a link error. I am still leaning towards Speed Sensors at front axle being the issue here, but I would like to be able to isolate which sensor. I would imagine that would be possible if I could access the ESP menus.
So do I have a failed ESP control module or is my scanner just not compatible?
I've read tons and tons about "Vehicle speed" possible being a transmission issue. I can view all transmission data and everything gives a good read out. So I'm not leaning at all towards Transmission.
Battery is 1 yr old. Back up battery is 6 months old. Alternator charges like a champ.
Any help is appreciated.

Please update your profile to include the year and model, is it gas, CDI or Blue and the country you live in.
And yes, you do not have the correct scanner.
