Turbo actuator on the om642
Have a ml320 cdi with the actuator failure. I replaced one on another car last year and it was the motor inside it that burnt out.
you can’t buy these separately (without turbo) and was wondering if anyone had put a Chinese one in. And how it had gone etc.
I have not got this one out yet hopefully it is the soldering (or not the motor) failure and I can use the parts of the previously replaced unit to make one out of the two. Still curious on the Chinese ones Incase

In my experience an actuator that I bought off Amazon actuator did not work properly.
Here is a short version of the story: Back in 2018 the turbo actuator failed. I found a posting (link is here) that says a failed solder connection(s) are the usual culprit. I re-soldered a couple connections and all was well for a few years. Then the actuator failed again. Since (as described in post #15 of the above link) the soldering was difficult, I decided to try an actuator from Amazon. However, it did not work properly and the turbo boost was either erratic or sub-par. So I went back and carefully did the re-soldering of several connections (in my case I think there were 2 or 3 different bad connections), and all has been fine since.
You can see on that link that at least one person bought an aftermarket turbo actuator that worked OK, but that was not my experience. YMMV.
Good luck.

Many thanks for that link. You did a great job on that post. Have asked the person who had success with amazon one how it has gone in longer term.
