Changing Battery While Using Another Car As A Power Source

Currently need to change the battery on my car, located under the passenger seat. In order to keep power to the car to avoid losing memory/computer settings, I was going to hook up an external power source through the battery terminals under the hood. Would bringing another vehicle and hooking them up via jumper cables be a viable option? Both vehicles would be off during the battery change.

Thanks

Why?
Just change the battery. If anything you'll need to normalize the windows (hold the buttons down then hold them up to let the computer know where the up and down are) but other than that, the car will be fine.

I've done the same, swap the battery with no power source, all is good minus the windows. I think most information is in non-volatile memory.

@rapidoxidation @mferioli Thank you very much for this information. Did you have any issues with radio codes? I am just trying to avoid more problems after doing the swap. Will I just need to recalibrate the windows, sunroof, and steering wheel? Did any other issues arise after the swap for you?

Assume your changing the main battery and that the auxiliary battery still holds a sufficient charge, then you won't need another power source. If you do lose power in the process, it doesnt hurt to allow the new battery, assuming its fully charged, to sit once connected for 10 minutes or so to repower all the modules and minimise the chance of an error before starting.

I had no issues after the battery swap other than window reset.
