2012 Mercedes CLS 550
Installation was breeze, very easy, just time consuming (about 2-3 hours) easy on me !! I am not a tech !! if you want to do the things right, run the wiring nice & neat (like factory).
Run the star on all the time I don't know, I like the way it is, running the star on all the time is a little show off for me but it is a taste issue... maybe you can tap with your headlights..

The LED Star parts do not come with instructions. Curious.... how did you know where to run the wiring?
Obviously if you were going to have them turned on all of the time you'd jump the existing LED's or headlights. However, sounds like you did the 'factory' install. How did you do this?
Thanks!

is'very simple .... partially open the plastic cover on right fender. In this way you can see from underneath the large plug that carries current to the entire lantern. Than with a tester you find the positive wire of the position lamp...than with a current tap like you see in the picture you cm take the positive wire for the dimmer. The negative wire from the body car
Hello Alfred.....can you please tell me where you physically mounted the dimmer box?

The new Mercedes kit is configured for full time illumination of the star. Not being opposed to a little more "bling", I decided it was time. Berglund Luxury (a Mercedes dealer) sent a copy of the install instructions before I ordered, so I knew it would be a lot simpler than the original install. By the time it arrived, I had already studied the instructions and checked out my ML550 setup. The instructions indicate a foam piece between the radiator and frame, but my ML had a hard rubber strip. I used a fishtape to route a small wire at the top of the rubber piece from the fuse box to the grill. I taped the fuse connection/ground to the wire, and pulled (carefully) back from the grill into the engine bay (instruction call for going the other way). Surprisingly easy.
The rest was per instructions. The fuse holder is a little loose in the box, and may require a shim or similar adjustment in the future, but the Star is illuminated. I haven't had it out at night, yet. But, in the daylight, it is not noticeable.

Does anybody here know how I can modify the OEM illuminated star kit to fit a 2007 CLS-550? I've been to the dealer, but they tell me there is no kit for my car, only newer models. I thought the star medallion on these cars are pretty much the same diameter. My belief is that it should be possible to modify an illuminated star kit intended for another model and make it fit my 2007 CLS. I have no idea where to start or who to ask... I WANT ONE OF THESE, GHETTO LOOKING OR NOT! :-)
