Tire Suggestions on 20" AMG RIMS instead of std OEM Conti for 13' ml550

Hey All,

I am looking for suggestions on replacing the continental 265/45R20 Cross Contact. I am ok with the performance as these were not terrible but am disappointed with how long they lasted…25500 miles I could maybe push it and got 27000k out of them had I not gotten nails in them. I was wondering has anybody replaced their OEM tires and with what?

Mine are still ok with only 16,500 kms but you could get on tirerack.com and I think there are a few options. I would buy the Continentals again, no issues so far.

I've been researching replacements, also. I intend to go up a little in size but also in width. The Conti Extreme Contact DWS in either 275/45-20 or 295/45-20 are looking good. Both are 10 plus inches of tread. The 295s might be a tight fit, but I haven't been able to find anyone who has put them on the 20" AMG J9s on a 2012 or 2013. I've put oversize tires on both my '99 and '08 without problems other than the slight odometer error (just had to remember it was 6% too low). The ride was noticeably smoother, but the handling wasn't much different. However, I have been impressed with my 2013 550's handling, so I may not want to go too oversize.

So you want something that lasts but thats a little less in performance than the conti cross contact correct?

Maybe the conti dws or the Michelin latitude

yeah, just longevity without sacrificing ride quality. A buddy is putting on a goodyear set that had 60,000 mile tread life but I'm sure its going to kill quality but I also drive 50-60k a year and just hate getting stuck for 1700$ every six months for tires! Ill give those others look…. Thanks for you guys input!
