I just finished a SQ install in my 2015 ML350. It sounds absolutely amazing. Looks great too!

False floor to cover electronics in the wheel well (I'll be redoing the carpet with OEM carpet).

Sound deadening and Closed Cell Foam applied to doors and under the custom sub box.

As for how it sounds .. All bass/midbass impact is up on the windshield/dash .. far left to far right and everything in between is coherently placed on the soundstage .. instruments/vocalists have air/space around them. It can feel live .. like a brass instrument ringing your chest or a kick drum punch in the body... with all perceived sound originating from the soundstage on the dash. It's like driving in a studio.

Does anybody have a good source for buying OEM velour carpet?

100% active. 150x6 to the frontstage and 700w to the sub.
