Possible group buy option? If not what is the cost and the benefits to having the spacers (I know what they since I have PTE version on my E55 are but I'd still like your sales pitch)...

I have used them before, whenever I had an engine ripped apart, and can say for a street car I have never seen ANY gains from them. Two potential drawbacks as well: 1. Posiable turbulance if not size acurately 2. Potential leak source Also, the engineer in me knows that reguardless of whatever material they are made out of, sooner or later the engine will reach equalibrium. For dragin, that is not an issu, as you have cool down time. For street use, no gain. Good luck and let us know. PS: I would love to see a dyno with them, wiat five minutes and dyno again:naughty: That would be proof if they actually block ANY heat or not in the real world, aka daily driver. |
Guys, as long as you have "metal" fasteners between manifold and engine, you will have
heat transfer. Even large phenolic type spacers, ie: in excess of 1" thick will only retard the heat equalization between engine and manifold. All this stuff has been known by us real automotive engineers for over 40 years. Please do not fall for the hype. If you seeking real consistent/durable street horsepower available at any OAT, just make sure that your water-to-air "intercooler system" is bullet proof, with a reliable electric circulating pump and radiator(s) sized to the amount of heat [boost] that you are producing. The MB stock system goes wanting in both areas. This was the most difficult issue for MB-AMG to solve on the SL65 Black Series, hence the HUGE cooling system with the extreme frontal body modifications to contain it. |
