Coil pack any good?
Can I use this?
I bought a pair of packs from a crash damaged car with 11783 miles, but not convinced that this is fully functional. I have a misfire on multiple cylinders on one bank only (Passenger Side UK). http://fotifixes.com/imagehosting/im.../coil_pack.jpg No idea why embedded images are playing about today! |
Don't worry about the staining - I presume that's just water.
More of a concern is the split in the longitudinal weld - that's indicative of an over-heated coil. It's a clear give-away in my mind. You could probably recover the other ones and use them to replace the bad ones on your existing coil pack. BR, Nick |

From a crash damaged car. Turns out they had a few hairline cracks that let water in to the packs and rusted them from the inside out, so scrap apart from the coils really. Not sure what bits to replace on my pack as it logs misfires all on cylinders 7-12 but random ones, sometimes 7.10 etc. Always on one bank. Only does it above 5000rpm, reluctant to replace all the mosfets and all the coils in a change game, so will probably just replace the pack. |
