Blowoff Valve Question

Hallo,

How would you recognize whether the blowoff valve is not working properly? Does a bov upgrade benefit a tuned car under all circumstances or is a properly working oem valve equally capable?

I had a failed blow-off valve some years ago.

The only symptom was a nasty surge and lurch when snapping the throttle shut during acceleration. I learned to drive around it, but it was annoying.

The stock valve does the job, and is cheap. I can't think of a bigger waste of money than an upgraded BOV.

Thanks Nick!

Yeah, I'm with Nick on this one, unless you really want the noise, there's no reason to upgrade. They are already on the turbo housing, can't possibly be any more efficiently positioned, and if you remove the airbox and run aftermarket intakes, you hear the stock ones plenty anyway. I hear them on my tune only car with the windows down.

I think I might have this, but even barely letting off the throttle at WOT causes this to happen.

[edit]

I found a vacuum leak. The hose that goes to the air reservoir broke and/or came out. I stuffed a new piece of hose in there, but I think to do it properly I have to remove..... EVERYTHING GODDAMMIT THIS IS SUCH A PRINCESS ENGINE.

BOV for c63

What’s a good BOV to run on a stock c63 ? I was thinking either renntech or weistec.
