Description:
Clean title, no accidents, clean Carfax, two owner
I am the second owner of this stunning Tanzanite / Capri Blue Metallic Mercedes Benz CLS550. This is the car that started the 'four door coupe' craze that is now emulated by many vehicle manufacturers.
Exterior
The car is always garaged, and the paint is like glass and nearly blemish-free. This car was never a highway commuter, so the front bumper and hood have very few paint defects. There are a few tiny scuffs on the front lip, but otherwise no issues. There are no dents or dings on the car, and no major scratches or swirl marks. The rear bumper under the trunk lid looks like someone slid something across it one point, creating some small scratches that were touched up. It's not at all noticeable unless you are very close to the car. The car has been maintained with a ceramic coating during my ownership. The blue color is deep with a lot of metallic flecks. It looks different in varying light conditions and is stunning in person. The wheels have a couple of small scuffs, but no major curb rash or issues. When I bought the car, my neighbors thought it was brand new!
Interior
The Cashmere Beige leather interior is incredibly clean, and very few passengers appear to have ever ridden in the car. The driver seat bolsters don't show any notable wear. There aren't any blemishes in the dash leather or Laurel Wood. The carpets are perfect, and the mats are very nice as well. No stains, spills, mud, dirt, etc. The steering wheel and shift knob show a little wear, but otherwise the interior is nearly spotless. The rear bucket seats are very comfortable and inviting, and the occasional dinner guests always enjoy the ride.
Features
The car has Premium Package 1, climate control, heated and cooled seats, Harmon Kardon surround stereo, dimming mirrors, garage door opener, interior light package, memory seats, navigation, sunroof, tire pressure monitoring, telescopic steering wheel, satellite radio, rear window shade, heat insulating glass, remote keyless entry, six disc changer, auxiliary input, adjustable suspension, cruise control, 4 zone climate control, traction control, stability control, airbags everywhere, PRE-SAFE system...probably others I'm forgetting.
Mechanical
The car runs silky smooth and pulls hard under all conditions. The 5.5L V8 produces 380 HP and 391 lb-ft. of torque, and the car can really take off when required. Car and Driver tested one at 4.7 seconds zero to sixty. On the highway, a quick jab of the throttle squirts you past any traffic, and the car is imminently stable at any sane speed. It has torque everywhere and is a pleasure to drive on any type of road. It has an adjustable suspension, so you can either cruise in comfort or tighten things up for sharper handling. I have kept up with regular oil changes during my ownership, installed a cabin air filter, a new Bosch battery, and an engine air filter. All four tires were replaced within the past 2,000 miles, so they are essentially new. Brake pads and discs are in great shape, with smooth application and no vibrations. No other service is required in the near-future. I have never had any mechanical issues, repairs, engine lights, etc. The car has been flawless during my ownership.
Warranty
I was always afraid of purchasing an expensive German car without a warranty, so after learning about the incredible warranties CarMax offers, I picked this one up from them about a year and a half ago. The warranty is a five-year, 75,000 mile, bumper-to-bumper, transferrable warranty. The car currently has only 32,700 miles, so there are over 3 ½ years and 42,000 miles remaining on the warranty. It is valid at any CarMax repair facility or Mercedes Benz dealer, so purchasing this car essentially offers the same peace of mind as a brand-new Mercedes. To learn more about just how good CarMax warranties are, please search 'carmax warranty jalopnik'.
Price
My asking price is $17,500. Yes Kelly Blue Book on the car is lower than that, but KBB doesn't factor in the MaxCare warranty which is worth several thousand dollars. There are few other cars of similar mileage for sale around the country in the $17k-$22k price range. It's highly unlikely that any of them are in as good of condition as mine, and none offer a full coverage extended warranty. Please don't contact me offering trades or crazy lowball offers. I'm not interested.
Why am I selling?
I live a mile from work, almost never drive in traffic or on the highway, and I have five other cars. We take my wife's minivan when we go on long trips, so I rarely drive this car or leverage its cruising ability. I bought it because I always thought it was one of the most beautiful sedans ever produced and wanted one ever since they were released.
How to Reach Me?
Call me at seven zero four, six seven four, seven eight five three. I will not respond to texts or emails. If you're serious about buying the car, call me and set up a time to come see it.
Other Relevant Info
I am an avid car enthusiast who works in the automotive aftermarket as my career. I have a small collection of very nice cars, and I am extremely particular about them. You can be confident that a vehicle purchased from me will be coming from a very good home, and will be as represented.
This is a stunning car that sold for over $70,000 new. It is built like a vault, luxurious, comfortable, powerful, and stunning to look at. You would be extremely hard-pressed to find any car that is nicer for under $20k, let alone one with a warranty that rivals that of a new car. In today's market this type of money nets you a plastic econobox with a feeble four cylinder engine. I'm confident that the first serious buyer who comes to check out the car will buy it.
