Description:

Barn find, kinda. I stumbled upon this classic a couple months back. It had been sitting under tarps at my buddies family farm. They estimate it had been there for four or five years, which matched the 2014 registration. Once we put a charge to the battery, it fired right up, but of course had some issues. So for the last few months i've started the resto process. The body is actually in phenomenal shape with a couple paint chips near the front edge of sunroof. No real dents, scrapes or chips elsewhere. Rear brakes were locked up/rusted, so we did a complete rear caliper and pads job (rotors resurfaced). Battery was shot so it has a new one. Alternator went out after the new battery was installed, so it has a new alternator. Power steering fluid replaced. Coolng system flushed. Wife thought about wanting this as her daily driver so we had the old a/c system swapped out to accommodate R134. Heating system didn't seem to function properly, so we updated to the newer heater servo as well. Since we did the a/c system, we had all the drive belts replaced as well. I took out the seats and carpet to check for any rust issues and also to combat the musty interior smell. Not a single rust issue that I could find. For preventative purposes I lined the whole floor pan with Por15, replaced the insulation padding and thoroughly cleaned the carpets and seats. Now she is no where near perfect but has a great foundation for someone who wants an easy project. As is it drives wonderful and is perfect for someone who wants to tinker over time. Below is a list of what i've done since acquiring it and what I HAD planned on doing, or what was recommended by my mechanic.

1979 Mercedes 450 SLC w/61,200 miles.
NEW
Battery
Alternator
Drive belts
A/C system
Heater servo
Coolant
Power steering fluid
Headlights
Tires
Few other odds and ends...plastic pieces, switches, etc.

NEEDS or stuff I had planned on doing
Small rear windows don't work. Not the switches cause I replaced those, so must be the motors. Drivers and passenger windows work fine.
Power antenna stuck. Doesn't go up and down, but you can hear it trying
Passenger side door won't lock. I'm not qualified nor have the patience to try and figure out the vacuum system.
Rear louvered windows look horrible. Someone basically covered the window with paint rather than properly replace them.
I've run a bunch of fuel cleaners through just in case, but planned on replacing the filters and such eventually. No issues so far.
Figured plugs and wires could use replacing.
Needs alignment. Suspension is a little spongy.
Tranny fluid? Been sitting so figured that would be smart. Shifts great right now.
Wiper blades.
Aftermarket radio sucks, so probably 4 speakers as well.
Front seats are in good condition but the top of the rear has some cracking.
Dash pad is starting to crack.
Chrome on the wheels is peeling.

The drivability is awesome, it cruises and is super smooth. There is nothing in my opinion, urgent, and if you are handy you can do most of this yourself. I basically bought her for $1500 and have now put another $4500 into it basically accounting for every penny so far (cleaning supplies, title, registration, baterry, a/c, etc...). I'm tapping out. $6500 OR BEST OFFER

I just snapped a couple quick pics from the garage. If you are truly interested, reach out and I can send a bunch more.
