Description:

FS: 2002 Mercedes SLK 32 AMG 76,895 miles. Brilliant Silver on Anthracite/Alpaca Gray interior. 100% stock, Southern car, Clean FL title in hand, one key included. Purchased in September 2022 with 75K miles on it, the car has ended up being a lot more fun than expected and a great example of an early Mercedes-owned AMG car. Selling to free up space, this is an outstanding driver’s car with some cosmetic defects but shows extremely well for 21 years old. Take a look at the pictures, while I’ve put a detailed set of notes below because I like to sell how I like to buy, the car really is great. I have extensive high-res pictures and video available for interested buyers highlighting everything.

-Almost entirely original (I just replaced the original trunk struts last month). Even the wiper blade holders are original. Previous owner was an elderly Gulf Coast Florida gentleman who maintained it well.

-Drives awesome, keeps stable temperatures, no misfires, pulls hard (a really pleasant surprise how fast this is once you get past the detent on the gas pedal).

-AC Blows absolutely ice cold. Heated seats work great in the back but not the base, a common R170 issue.

-Power seats function perfectly but the relay under the steering wheel can act up periodically, meaning the switches stop working. It hasn’t been worth the trouble to fix given the seats moved to the position I needed.

-Top functions flawlessly with no leaks; video available. Recently lubed according to OEM instructions and all rubber seals treated with Gummi Pflege.

-OEM radio, sounds great for the era, CD changer is missing the cartridge. I have a simple Bluetooth transceiver I use that will come with.

-OEM windshield glass, looks original. Will include a Covercraft UVS100 custom fit windshield cover.

-I’ve replaced some miscellaneous switchgear and trim with OEM parts. Interior has been repainted in portions, and some areas are doing better than others (See photos) but it presents EXTREMELY well for the age and problems the R170s tend to have with paint peeling.

-2K miles Cooper Zeon tires, brake pads have 75% life left. Received an oil change, air filter change, transmission flush, and inspection when I purchased in September 2022.

-Driver’s side mirror horizontal (left/right) power adjustment does not work; you have to adjust the mirror manually for that direction. All other functionality (vertical) including night time dimming works. Pass side is fine.

-Center rear view mirror dimming function does not work.

-Roof looks like it has been repainted at some point; nothing reported on Carfax when I purchased. Presents well.

-Front bumper looks like it took a parking block to the chin with the previous owner and received a respray without a true fix. The OEM center grille was missing when I purchased and I’ve bought a best fit non-OEM option and am including grille clips, but have not ordered an OEM replacement grille as I figured it made the most sense to do with a front bumper respray. Detailed pics available.

-Drivers side headlight gets condensation (can see in some of the photos, car was freshly washed) that clears up with time. There is also a short somewhere in the driver’s side headlight that prevents the lowbeam from working (pops the fuse). Highbeam, sidemarker, and driving light in the unit still function, so my guess is either the dash switch module or a short in the assembly. I have not been able to pull the assembly, which would be a good step with a reseal anyways. There are no visible/obvious wire shorts and I have replaced the Xenon bulb with a new Hella unit to be safe. Fogs function fine.

-Pass side fender/rocker rubber trim had disintegrated when I purchased; no longer available from MB so it has been resealed with SikkaFlex.

-Clear coat on the rear trunk antenna is failing. Clear coat on spoiler isn’t great, but not totally lost yet. Both common issues with era Mercedes painted plastic.

-Minor bolster wear on the driver’s side (detailed pics available)

-Center console ash tray/cubby trim is a bit fragile; it holds in place and functions fine, but a tab is broken inside the dash where it mounts so it isn’t sturdy. Similarly, a tab for the center console storage where the cigarette lighter is (behind parking brake) has broken and the front of the cubby is loose. See pictures and video available. Very minor for both.

-Powder coat on the wheels has seen better days; all wheels are in good shape but the coating is failing due to age. Detailed photos available.

-2-3 door panel fasteners have come unglued on each side (common R170 issue) but both the door panel and arm rest are stable and solid. I’ve got detailed photos showing how loose they really are, but to avoid potentially ruining the rest of the fasteners I’ve left them as is for now. When you open/close doors you don’t even really notice.
