Description:
General Description:
The time has come to part with my 2006 Mercedes Benz E55 station wagon after over five years of
ownership. I love this car so much, but have come to the conclusion that I have too many cars and a few
of them need to go. This is an extremely rare car that took me over a year to find as there are
approximately 160 of them in the United States. On top of that, this one has the Designo package with
special paint and interior which makes it extra unique! If you are familiar with the S211 Mercedes then
you know that AMG wagons came in two varieties- the E55 with a supercharged 5.5L V8 and 5 speed
automatic transmission and an E63 with a 6.3L V8 and a 7 speed transmission. The E55 is generally
considered to be the more reliable of the two with a virtually bulletproof engine and transmission. There
is an E55 sedan out there with over 400k miles on it! A Blackstone Laboratories oil report was performed
in March 2021 and pics of the results are included in the gallery of pictures.
I purchased this car from a private owner in San Diego in April 2019 with 124k miles on it and so the car
has never been exposed to snow and salt and is rust free. I have maintained it with an open checkbook so
it is in great shape and ready for the next owner to enjoy. The car was also well cared for by its prior
owners and I have all books and records from both my ownership as well as the prior owners. The car has
been garaged during my ownership until a few months ago when an NSX purchase pushed it outside. It
looks very clean for having 153k miles on it which is a testament to how much it was loved by all of its
caretakers. Some basics:
• 2006 Mercedes Benz E55 Station Wagon
• VIN: WDBUH76J16A936682
• Designo Mocha Black Metallic (033) exterior paint over tan interior
• 153,9XX miles
• Clean title
• 5.5L Supercharged V8
• 5 Speed automatic transmission
• Asking $32k
• Located in Nashville, Tennessee
Options: This car is fully loaded with most every available option from back in 2006 including the
desirable third row seats. A picture of the Vehicle Master Index (VMI) for the car which shows all
options is included in the picture gallery.
Modifications: The car is basically stock with a few tasteful upgrades:
• E63 front bumper and grill
• Bronze BBS CI-R wheels (18x8.5 (F); 18x9 (R) with new rear Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 rear
tires and six month old Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 front tires) (OE wheels included)
• Rear H&R spacers
• Programa Lowering Control Module (lowers the car but still permits it to be raised up when
needed using the button in the center console)
• Full front end PPF (2021)
• Ceramic Pro 9-year ceramic coating (2021)
• Secondary cat and resonator delete (original pieces included)
• Magic Mount phone holder
• Had the rear bumper, rear hatch and hood resprayed in 2021 when the E63 bumper was added to
address some small scratches and dings.
Maintenance: The car has been well maintained during my ownership with any issues addressed
immediately by experienced mechanics. I have all receipts for work done during my ownership.
Highlights during my ownership include:
• Rear axle replacement, new engine and transmission mounts, replace engine drive belts (10/24)
• Replace exhaust manifolds, new heater control valve and STAR modification to delete side
marker bulb warning after E63 bumper conversion (9/24)
• Oil service, coolant system flush, remove and replace oil filter housing gaskets and remove and
replace valve cover gaskets (4/24)
• Oil service and install purge valve (8/23)
• New spark plugs, brake fluid flush, replace left and right front air struts, remove and replace left
and right front inner tie rides, four wheel alignment, new cabin filter and new engine air filters
(12/22)
• Oil change, replace all brake rotors and pads (9/22)
• Oil change (2/21)
• Secondary cat and resonator removal, oil change, front forward facing control arm/thrust arm
replacement and front upper control arm ball joint replacement (3/20)
• Oil change, transmission service, new supercharger belt and oil cooler seals (6/19)
Original Parts included with Sale:
• Original E55 bumper (in good shape- I just like the more aggressive looks of the E63 bumper
better so I replaced it but preserved the original bumper for originality)
• Exhaust section with secondary cat and resonator removed from the car
• 18” OE wheels (in great shape with good Bridgestone RE980 all-season tires, painted Designo
Mocha Black Metallic to match the car)
• Extra 18” OE wheel with tire that can be used as a full-sized spare on roadtrips
• NOAH outdoor car cover (needs a good cleaning)
Known Imperfections: Some of these are nits and all are minor, but I like people to have the complete
story on any car I am selling so including these for your benefit especially for any buyer who is unable to
see the car in person before purchasing:
• Dynamic seats don’t work- they worked fine but then both driver and passenger stopped about six
months ago. I have not yet investigated the cause- I did not use them that often. All regular
adjustments on the seats work great.
• Headliner starting to sag in the back- there is no sagging over the front two sets of seats so it
never bothered me enough to fix it, but you may wish to have the back reglued.
• Rubber around quarter window on the driver’s side rear door is starting to crack- I always meant
to fix this, but it wasn’t bad enough for me to care that much. You can order a new quarter
window with the rubber surround from MB.
• Small stain on leather door trim – it looks like one of the prior owners had a greasy elbow or
something so there is a spot on the leather on the driver’s side door panel. Never bothered me
that much.
• Small repaired chip in windshield- I took a rock to the windshield in my first month of ownership
and had Safelite come out and repair it.
• Keyless go- the driver’s side front door keyless go handle does not work. All other keyless go
door handles including the hatchback all work great. Driver’s door still opens with the button on
the key so didn’t even realize keyless go wasn’t working until I checked everything prior to sale.
Miscellaneous:
• This is a wonderful car that was well-cared for throughout its 18 years.
• If you know these cars, then you know they do not come up for sale very often. It took me a year
to find this one. The great part about this car is that it already has some miles on it and has not
been wasting away in a collection in hopes of getting top dollar in an auction 20 years from now.
You can buy it, drive it and likely sell it for what you paid for it as they don’t make them like this
anymore!
• There is a minor incident on the Carfax from 2009 which was before I purchased it. I have had
the car looked over and can’t find any evidence of any damage which leads me to believe it was
extremely minor.
• I own several fun cars like a 997 GT3RS, 993, NSX and a 78 Trans Am. I spend a great deal of
time making sure I purchase a good example up front and spend a great deal of money making
sure they stay that way. This isn’t some clapped out ****box that someone bought and realized
they couldn’t afford to service, so you can buy with confidence.
• I’m more than happy to assist you in getting a PPI at your expense if you are not local to
Nashville, Tennessee.
• I am also happy to meet a transport truck if you arrange to have it shipped to you. I wouldn’t
hesitate to drive this car across the country as it sits, so if you prefer to come to Nashville and
drive it home I am happy to pick you up at the airport.
• While I don’t need to sell it, I also don’t want to hold it while you get your finances in order.
First come, first served.
