Description:
I have two 2000 model ML55 AMG's. Both were running 6 months ago. Both were daily drivers. First one is dark blue. 330k miles, cold AC, all electrics work, locks work. No special equipment, but has interior spare cover. This vehicle was driven daily since we bought it, but was retired about 5 months ago as it was using too much fuel for a 100 mi. per day commute. So I bought my wife an E320. It needs a new battery. Has recent brakes and tires. Had many new suspension components added as bushings cannot be replaced separately. Audio system, seat heaters, sunroof, cruise control all are working.
Second car is black, 220k miles. This vehicle was my daily driver, even with a 100 mile commute. However the previous "mechanic" evidently overtorqued the belt tensioner bolts, which caused it to strip out the timing chain cover. I "repaired" this with JB Weld which held for about 5 months. Could not find anyone in this area with a TIG welder who could fill the holes and rethread them. So,, I bought a GL450 and she is now sitting. I was going to replace the timing chain cover but there are too many other things that need my attention. I have the parts needed, including a fresh AC compressor, as the current one was questionable. This vehicle has running boards, brush guard, trailer hitch receiver, and custom painted AMG wheels with good Michelins.
The ML55 is a performance SUV. They have a 0-60 time of 5.4 seconds and the all wheel drive keeps you safe when the roads are wet or snowy. I have always been impressed with the handling and performance of these vehicles. I have driven them at speed, and in conditions where a Jeep Wrangler would shudder. These are also one of the few vehicles that an average mechanic can work on. The engineers at Mercedes put things where they can be worked on without taking apart half of the vehicle. Both of these could be put back on the road without a lot of effort. Or finish up the second one and sell the other. As my wife wants them gone, I am offering them both for the price of $3500. As parts, they are worth twice that. We are located in Rossville, Ga about 14 mil off I-75.
