That sounds good, please do let me know how it goes. If it's helpful, on your main thread I linked to another thread where someone was able to do it just from the bottom and included a pdf with details on it. From what he stated, it may be easier that way.

I have not done the repair yet.
I spoke to a shop yesterday to fish out some info on repair. I asked if they have to remove the starter to do the oil filter housing repair, is so I would replace starter also at the same time. He said no, he would do it from the top.

So, I will attempt it this weekend.

    Thanks

    Hi Meazz1,

I saw your post about replacing the oil filter housing on your Mercedes c250. My car (a c250) has also been facing the same leak for the past year, and I've been wanting to replace but have found limited information online on how to do the repair. Did you eventually get to this repair? If so, was it doable from just the top by removing air filter + intake manifold, etc., or did you also have to remove / unbolt the starter to access some of the bolts on the oil filter housing? I appreciate any info on this.

    Thanks for the help,
    A fellow concerned c250 owner
