Hi there - I have REALLY appreciated your post about installing the rear view camera and all the great links. Unbelievable resource. I just inherited a 2009 E350 (W211, NTG 2.5) and it seems like your setup is exactly what I need.

I'm writing to ask if you can offer any tips/advice or anything you would do differently. Looks like I need to purchase the VIM with cable you posted ($210), FAKRA adapter straight ($15), and Camera. Why did you choose a $75 camera over the $25 ones on Amazon?

Lastly, I haven't been able to find a car audio shop that will do this job because they don't want to be responsible for "coding" the COMAND - they say it's high risk. Any tips? Any way for me to open up the COMAND on my own (easily), test it out, and if it works take it to a shop to get it professionally installed?
