I guess you don't need to access the engineering mode on your COMAND unit anymore or have found a solution in the meantime.

Here is a sequence that should work:

press INFO
press BEEP (2nd top right soft button)
on LHS soft buttons (1-5) press 5, 3, 3
RHS soft buttons 1
LHS 5

It may not give you exactly the engineering mode you were looking for, but I found it helpful to correct the offset from the GPS time, so that my onboard clock shows the right time.

Did you ever replace your COMAND unit with an aftermarket radio? I've been 90% successful and just have a problem getting sound. It would be great if you could help me with that.
