    Hi!

So the chassis serial number part of the VIN is the last 7 characters -- a letter (A, B, C, D) followed by 6 digits. This is so they can start a new series or continue the last one by just advancing the letter and starting over at 000000 again; A000000 - A999999, B000000-B999999, C000000-C999999, etc.

Since your VIN's last 7 are C227987, that would be after the B864308, so you are actually not making too much of it. It's all about thinking like a German!

Tricky question, you had answered a post pertaining to brake pads or rotors a while ago, B864308. hope it rings a bell. vin or chassis number. I am in the same spot. Need a little advice.my vin number is WDBEA32E5SC227987 ?
I have to determine if the vin or chassis number is before B864307 or after B864308. What does the "B" stand for (location of build) (Brakes) ? At first it seems easy last 6 numbers are before 864308, 227987. If I use the Chassis number,
it technically would read out as C227987, The "C" would make it after. B864308 C227987. or am I just making to much of it...… Thanks
