Frictional noise:Wheel bearing or CV joint issue?
Hi Guys, My ML has developed a hum/whine that has now become more of a metal on metal frictional noise, it seems to me like a wheel bearing or possible a CV joint or something in the drive line, it stays pretty consistent and doesn't change with intensity with engine/tranny rpm, it is there even when I put it in neutral and just let it roll, so it's not engine or tranny related.
Is there a way to check wheel bearings on an AWD vehicle by just jacking up one wheel at a time?
Are there any bearings or joints that you think it could be? Possible some that go more frequently then others?
Any help will be much appreciated!

No not really. You will have to get the truck up on an alignment rack with all 4 wheels supported.

Unlikely to be CV joints, they show up as a clicking noise when you increase steering lock.
But it could be wheel bearings or diff bearings. A four wheel lift as suggested is the best way to test.

Ctr driveshaft support bearing
This should help . It is about a 4 hour job. You can get a Lemford replacement part on E-Bay for about $100.00
