Considering selling my Edition 1 C63S Sedan

I bought my Edition 1 C63S sedan new about 3 years ago. I sold my E90 M3 6MT for it, and I had an F10 M5 DCT before it, so I have been comfortable with BMW for a while. It took me a while to appreciate the AMG. I still much prefer driving a manual transmission, and this car didn't tick that box. However, once mainly I got over not using a third pedal, I began to appreciate the car for what it is - an amazing beautiful looking and sounding monster. The leather still smells like a box of Crayola, and the acceleration brings a smile to my face with every drive. So why consider selling?

My daughter is ready to start driving. I have two choices for her to learn - the 600bhp (it's tuned) AMG or the 400bhp (also modified) M2 6MT. Neither are reasonable choices in which to teach a teenager to drive. After some exhaustive research on safety features and after a test drive, I decided on getting her a Kia Soul GT Turbo. One of my cars now has to go. The AMG is a stunning car, which makes me feel like I've "made it" when I'm behind the wheel, but it's not a car I would take to the track. However, I track my M2, which is basically made for that type of driving. Selling the AMG is selling exclusivity, but basically just a daily driver. Selling the M2 is selling a more pure driving experience, at the expense of it being much more a common car.

I'll be back in the game, once both of my kids get older. Maybe I'll shoot for a Porsche in the future; maybe something more unique. For now, though, I have to be a responsible parent and give up an upper echelon German sports car for a Korean econo-box. This is a bitter pill to swallow, but one of my cars has to be sold. What are your thoughts?

In fairness to us, you are asking a Mercedes forum full of Mercedes owners (who, in most instances, probably chose Mercedes over BMW). You can guess my answer, but the decision is entirely subjective. If there are no financial considerations in keeping one car over the other, keep the one that gives you more joy.

Ha! I actually posed the same question to the Bimmer guys. Surprisingly, the first response over there was to sell the M2! The financial considerations are that the AMG is a paid-off special edition (Edition 1) that hopefully will garner better money than my not-paid-off M2. The real world considerations is that we will be using the 4 door Kia as a substitute for the 4 door AMG, in a way, until we end up giving the car to my kid. The M2 would serve as still the fun, tossable, trackable car. In the scenario where I unload the M2, I won't actually get any money back, after I pay it off. And I keep two of the same people movers, though separated by over 400bhp!

It's absolutely a first world problem, but I'm just seeing what insight the car enthusiast community has (other than KEEP BOTH!). Appreciate you taking the time to comment.

If you track your M2 I would probably sell the C63S. As a track car the AMG just isn’t that great. If you don’t track, then I see literally no advantage of the M2 over the C63 as a daily fun car.
