Boys we have a world class A - Hole Coming

Just read this article from www.itv-f1.com. I only took the first half.

Fernando Alonso says Renault must put his world title challenge above its own team ambitions for his sake and its own.

The reigning world champion told a packed press conference in Brazil that he believed the drivers' championship to be more important than the constructors' and that beating Michael Schumacher to the former should be Renault's priority on Sunday.

"To be honest, for me the important thing is the drivers' championship, not only for me, for everybody," he said on Thursday.

"We see all the publicity on the motorways, everywhere from China onwards. I think we only see Michael's and Alonso's face on the pictures.

"You don't see the logo of Ferrari and Renault.

I just really think that Alonso is losing his class as he opens his trap. I really used to like him. Now that he has won he is becoming a toddler.

Man, I wonder how political it is going to be next year.

He is trying to win the most elite prize in motorsport. If that isnt classy then I don't know what is.

Perhaps you want him to pretend that he isn't worried about anything. That would be simply untrue. A small fortune rests on this and his crew are part of the deal.

It isn't just Alonso talking .... you may have overlooked the 100 or so people who support him directly. Then comes his team and his team management.

It's a big call and the business is far more serious than it was in years past.

Bearing in mind that one member claimed that it would take decades for MS titles to be even 50% eclipsed .... it seems to me that this win puts him around that mark. So it is historically significant for many reasons.

At least the flare and the passion is truly there. I find MS nothing short of boring to listen to.

I've always thought that team managers who say the WCC is more important than the WDC are idiots... especially when their chances of winning the WDC are slim... are idiots.

It suggests to me that some people are not familiar with the idea of history. Who here knows which teams MS drove for in his WDC wins. I dont really care myself. It makes no difference at all.

It is not just about the driver

Holy smokes I can't beleive this. I do know the teams that he drove for. Benetton and Ferrari. I didn't need to look this up.

Benz, I understand that point you are making. But the constructor is a serious part of this, ESPECIALLY in the business side. I see this sport from two angles, the fan, and the business. I enjoy the sponsorship stories, and the sales of those deals.

Do you recall Alonso comments from after his WDC last year? Loosely he said, now that he has won, he has nothing else to gain. That the sport of it was gone. I am not qouting, but he said something to this effect.

Hmm, lets go back to the last race with his rant about Fisi passing him. Saying that Fisi should have been more of a team player. Geez, MS was right up Fisi's butt.

My commentary was not put out on a single story, but rather his behaviour from his last WDC on. Remeber his absolute pouting at the podium and post race conference? I hope that McLaren can get him to see the TEAM, but I think rather that Alonso will be making headlines for being a horse's Azz.

You heard it here first.

Could be that some people just see the sport differently. I will give way here and say that most people are more familiar with the WDC, but let me till you the manufactures are the ones that put the driver in a winning car. I see it a bit differently than you all. But lest we digress from the origion, it was that Alonso is making an A - Hole out of himself.

not really, i agree with you i think the WCC is just or more important then the drivers for the TEAM. It is a TEAM effort AFTER ALL. The WDC is for the driver to go ut there everyweekend an drive hard, the WCC is for the TEAM to built the best car and provide their drivers with the best car.

bottom line alonso is a quality driver, however he got lucky last year and he got lucky this year too. If ferrari maintain their form of competitivness in 07 which they should, i dont think Alonso will win 07.

The sadest thing is that he becomes world champion as a result of other competitors misfortunes. Plus recently his attitude in the media is proving to be very poor.
I belive that if MS had made similar comments, he would have been fined in a wayor the other.

I really hope he crashes into fizi next sunday.

Cars are not people. The best car in the world ... meh. Every W203 ever made is a W203 and there are literally millions of them. There is only one Alonso and only one MS.

At times like this I really miss Senna. He was a driver with a big attitude and a monster talent.

If you are the best in the world just make everyone know it. When you are 50 you will have plenty of time to send your apology.

I was sitting in the Fangio stand at the AU F1 GP and was directly in line with MS on the grid. We sat there wondering how he would go and when his car failed to finish (in the same spot where I sat) I was really wondering if that was going to hurt his championship aspirations.

Seems like it did. But it is far from over.

You know how lights flicker 60 times a second because electricity isnt smooth it actually cycles up and down. Normally people cant see it.

The bottom line is that people like Sterling Moss can see it ... plus all of the frames in a movie one at a time (26 frames a second).

When people have unusual physical attributes like that you may want to ask yourself why they are able to react and control a car so much better than I can. With that kind of visual refresh you may want to reconsider the human element of driving.

As I said .... humans are impossible to replicate. We can celebrate great achievement or stand around kicking tyres and saying it was the car.

You would be surprise, driving to me is like breathing...im very good at it. Hell i can make a w126 beat gt3's on the track, i know what driving is like. Its just that in F1 all the drivers are pretty much up to par, except a few exceptions and IMO Fonzi is NOT one of them. He has won 1 wdc ( maybe 2) but we all know last year kimi could have bagged it, we know why he didnt, and so forth.

Vetel, Kubica IMO have more talent then Fonzi, then again i hate fonzi but i can admit when someone is good. You shall see what i mean Kubica nad Vetel being good cheers mate

Strange .... I was making breakfast and that is exactly what I thought you would say. How amazing that it actually appeared in text.

First you beat MBENZNL on the go-kart track and then we will start to take notice of you.

You can't doubt that Alonso doesn't have skill, all F1 race car drivers do! In F1 its not as simple as put your foot down and go, you can't do that also being able to drive a car that will do say 1:45 minutes around a track, an F1 car would do it under 1 minute! IMO Alonso is a bit of an *** but he is a good driver! Otherwise he wouldn't be racing and be so close to the Championship! ONly way MS will win is if Alonso doesn't finish...think about it

He spoke to my friend about it in person. He said that going to the movies was unbearable.

It was the exact same reason why my friend gave up motorsport. Not having this physical advantage made him realise that he could never surpass any person who's reactions could be determined in less time than his.

In my own case when movies cameras pan all I see is frames that overlap. Is that the same for everyone else ? Sometimes I see lights flicker to a slow pulse and then speed up again ? Anyone else ?

I see the overlapping frames only in theaters... TV is no problem. But this happens only recently so I think it is more related to digital film run on analog equipment that to any god-like racing prowess. I'm sceptical on this one.

Sceptical or not .... the man is exceptional. His reflexes and visual capacity were a strong factor in his domination of the WDC.

Did someone go around spreading the rumour that all WDC"s only needed a huge ego and a cool car ? That would be a rather cruel joke !
