Vibration on decelleration

Vibration on decelleration
I have a 2001 E55 that I have been for months trying to track this down. Finally after replacing parts (some needed and some not) with no luck, I took it to the local dealer and the 25 year tech "de-tensioned" the exhaust and problem solved. The vibration was felt only between 40 and 60 mph and only with foot off the accelerator. Could someone explain this to a shade tree mechanic.

If you are referring to the wheels and tires, the tires are new and the wheels were re-finished. That was the first thing I did. The vibration is gone, "de-tensioning" the exhaust system.

I have noticed looking under my S500 and my BMW 528I that the exhaust system seems to have some tuning weights at different spots near the mufflers and the hangers. I think if you hit something in the road it might mess up the tuning on the exhaust system (vibration wise). 
The Germans are pretty good when it comes to sorting out the dynamics of these cars. There is a big difference than looking under a Ford or a Chevy!!
