Hi,
you need to flip through the menus of the bord computer, there is a possibility to select the the mode in which the headlight should work, such as always on, delayed switch off or immediate switch off. This is only possible when the car is at standstill, other ´wise you wont find the menu piont.

DRL

Sorry, bamberger_1, that is incorrect, it is not possible using the on-board menus to disable DRLs in the Canadian version cars.

Why? Because Canadian law requires that they cannot not be disabled by the driver (or by a dealer for that matter).

What's the big deal? Leave 'em on - it's far safer.

Talking Special Drive-In Switch

I actually had my MB dealer install a switch to turn off my running lights as they stayed on while parked with the engine running. I had this done so that I could run the car at a drive-in movie!! I couldn't tell you what they tapped into, only that the switch is underneath the steering column near my left knee.

Daytime running Lights - How to Turn Off

I'm interested in knowing this as well? It's a pain at the drive in and if I want those lights on, I'll turn them on myself. I dislike "auto" features with no user shut off.

Anyone know how to do this yourself?

I'm thinking that the daytime running lights may be set into a "canada" country code in the software. There is another difference between the lighting on Canadian and US cars that is otherwise hard to explain. With the lighting switch set to Auto on Canadian cars, the high beams will not come on when the stalk is pushed forward, although they can be flashed. I'm told this is the case across the whole MB model range in Canada, and I understand US cars do not work in this way. If it's in the software, no way is the dealer likely to change it and, as Mike T said, changing it would be illegal anyway. Driller's solution involves rewiring the low beams: conceptually simple and probably not that hard to do.
