Headlights Won't Turn off in Daytime
I purchased a 2001 CLK430 that was originally sold in Canada. It therefore is set to have the headlights be on whenever the engine is running. There is no way for me to turn them off even though they are not required to be on here in the U.S.
Does anyone have any idea how to get them turned off? My dealer said they didn't know how to do this, and MBUSA says to ask the dealer to do it. HELP! Don:( |

Leave 'em on!
It's been proven that daylight running lights increase road safety by increasing long distance visibility. I don't think that we'd all be turning them off.

Not to flame a fellow Canadian but, if I wanted a higher degree of safety, I'd always wera my seat belt and I would not have bought a 275HP V8 MB with a ragtop. I would have opted for a SUV or a minivan. IMHO of course. |

Maybe a Mercedes SUV is safer, but no van is. And - generally - most SUVs are woefully unsafe compared to a regular car. Check out www.euroncap.com to see what I mean. |
Notwithstanding the safety aspects, does anyone know how to turn them off? Especially since neither the dealer, nor MBUSA know how.
