Reading the exact oil level
Hi,
There was a trick (a sequence of buttons that were pushed while the key was in position 2) that allowed you to get access to additional computer settings from your console. One of those settings was to get a reading of the exact oil level. This is not the oil level is okay or 1 quart low, etc. I stumbled on this technique years ago, but have since unfortunately forgotten... I would really like to recall how, but have been able to find anything on the net. Can anyone help? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Voltaire |
Search on 'dyno mode' but be aware that the level (to the 1/10 qt.) is off (low) by about 1 quart. It differs by year how to enter dyno mode.

Thanks mleskovar!
After posting I did some more searching on mbworld and found a few threads on dyno mode. More on how to disable traction control completely for some folks with AMG model cars. Appreciate the response and the heads-up on the oil level issue. |
can someone tell me how to access that information. thanks

On my '05 E55 with key-loss-go:
-insert key and turn to first position -use steering wheel page key to go to outside temp readout on display -push trip reset button 3 times in quick succession (the display should change to show software version etc, incl. oil level -:--) -turn key to second position et viola - the oil level changes to show actual level in quarts, e.g. 8.5 your car might be slightly different, but work in about this way; important is to make sure the engine was off for about 30 minutes to get an accurate reading |
