Hey Folks,

New to the forum and new to Mercedes!

Anyhow, Saturday morning, I tried starting my 1976 240d (in the freezing cold) and it turned over a few and stopped turning over.

My alternator belt had been kind of loose so i figured my battery must be dead and attempted to jump the battery.

No luck.

So i bought a new battery, installed it.

No luck.

The glow plug still lights up, but when I pull the starter lever all the way back, it's silent and will not turn over.

I played around with the starter, hoping that maybe it just had a bad connection but that didn't do anything either.

Any suggestions?
