Basic CLK maintenance questions
I just got a 2000 CLK 320, and I have no service manual or warranty. The car's display is saying that it needs "Service A". What is this? Where can I find maintenance information for my car so that I keep it running smoothly? Thanks.

I bought it from an insurance company, it has been lightly hit in the rear and the original owner wanted it replaced instead of repaired. I had it repaired for $3k, but it no longer has a warranty because it was taken back by the insurance company.

If you live in the US, MB USA warrants the car for 4 years, 50,000 miles not the insurance co. The warantte is transferable to new owners, which includes you. It is my understanting MB USA includes Mantenace for newer MB for that 4 years, 50,000 miles, but I am not sure if it was in place for the 2000 model year. You might get your maintenace covered (up to 50,000 miles). May be worth a call to your local dealer. Alternately you can call MB Customer Service 800 367-6372 (with your VIN number) and they can tell you what your coverage is.

what is A service
A service is one of the two type of routine service the other one is a B.
A is minor and B is major.
An A service includes the following:
Change your vehicle's engine oil and filter
- Replace the dust filter in all SLK, CLK, C-Class and E-Class models
- Ensure the warning and indicator lamps, horn, windshield/headlamp
wiper and washer systems, and seat belts are functioning correctly
- Inspect tires and check tire pressure (including spare)
- Inspect brake pad thickness and disc condition
- Check and correct all fluid levels
- Reset your vehicle's FSS counter
B Service
Change your vehicle's engine oil and filter
- Replace the dust filter in all SLK, CLK, C-Class and E-Class models,
and in S-Class and SL-Class models without the active charcoal filter
- Replace windshield wiper inserts
- Inspect and rotate tires
- Lubricate and inspect throttle linkage
- Ensure the parking brake, steering play, headlamps and exterior lamps,
warning and indicator lamps, horn, windshield/headlamp wiper and washer
systems, seat belts, and backrest lock (S-Class only) are functioning correctly
- Inspect tires and check tire pressure (including spare)
- Inspect brake pad thickness and disc condition
- Inspect front axle ball joints and Poly-V-belt
- Check and correct all fluid levels
- Reset your vehicle's FSS counter
