Tire pressure
Should I adhere to the 26 front / 32 rear MB inflation recommendation?

26/32 front/rear
will give you a lovely pillowy ride with pronounced understeer.
I'd suggest 35/33# front/rear to begin with.Use a good pressure gauge and don't be afraid to experiment with your tire pressures.

Any reason to put in more up front than in the rear? Is it to support the extra weight of the engine? I always wondered why MB said the fronts should be lower than rears...my car says 30 front/33 rear. I run 33/36.

I also have an 03 CLK500, I use the above 100mph pressures even thought the fastest I go is about 75-80mph. I also add 1 lb to the front so I use 36 front/38 rear.

Mercedes cars,like most,
are designed to understeer when pushed hard...better for the average driver than oversteer.Adding more air in the front will reduce this tendency. It will still understeer, but not as much.At the track I normally run with high 40's/low 40's front/rear.My street pressures are 36/33.
You can't get rid of the understeer with tire pressure alone, but it can be reduced. You may get better tire life with higher pressures as well.

Interesting, thanks for the explanation.
Steve1173:
Have you noticed any wear differences running those higher pressures? I may just go ahead and up it to the 100mph pressures as well.
