7G Tronic Plus?
Hello all,
I am new to the forum and could do with something clearing up if possible. I have read a lot about the newer plus transmission, but I am not 100% if mine is a plus although I think it is. The car is a 2011 newer shape C250CGI Blue Efficiency, without stop start. 1800 turbo 201hp 7 speed auto. The mode selector next to the gear lever has E and S settings. The oil sump on the transmission has oval shaped indentations and a slope on the back edge. My VIN is WDD2042472F686975 which does show the reduced friction abbreviation. Everything points to a 7G Tronic Plus but my local transmission specialist says it is the older one on red ATF, he has not seen the car, just has the VIN.
Does anyone know a definitive answer to this? My other option is to pull the drain plug to see if the oil is blue. I intend to service the transmission but will have to order the oil and want to get the right oil.

I used www.datamb.com to get the data card information. Your engine / transmission from index 231.1 point to 236.15 or 236.17 fluids. http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolisten/236.15_en.html. 236.15 fluids are readily available - I like Pentosin as an OEM supplier and more reasonably priced, especially from online parts retailers such as FCPEURO.COM.

How do know from the VIN which transmission is fitted? I was fairly sure based on the different forums that mine is a 7G-Tronic Plus and so will need the blue oil, I just wanted to be sure before ordering it. This oil is not easily accessible in New Zealand and the nearest dealer is a 4 hour round trip away.

See the attached data card for your car. The trans is listed as a 722.997, the serial number follows. The fluid change from BEVO is listed and it's after your serial number.
