Gas gage issues

I have a 2002 C240, thought I had a fuel
pump issue, changed that after having a problem getting the correct pump. Contacted Mercedes and they said the part number was incorrect for that car. Funny thing, I sent them the picture of the part in the car and said the part never existed. Anyway, finally found a pump with the incorrect harness out of Montreal. Changed the harness and installed the pump, no luck. After a friend found the issue with a burnt connector on the rear sams unit, I purchased one from Mercedes and installed it knowing the one they sent wasn’t the same part number. Mercedes assures me it was the correct replacement for that car. Installed it and now no gas gage. Of course I called the dealership and they assured me I have the right one. They even offered to help out by me driving the car to their dealership and they’d figure it out for a nominal fee. Of course. Can any one steer me in the right direction on how to bypass the sams or wire it to get the gage to work. The misses was not a happy camper by now because it took six fuel pumps and about six months of research to get it this far. She was so upset with the lack of information from the dealership to get the correct parts, she went out and bought a Kia Soul. She said no more Mercedes for her. The car is now collecting dust in one of my bays. Any information that would help out would be great.

Post your VIN and, hopefully today or tomorrow, you'll have a list of the part numbers that work for your car. Quite often older parts are superseded by new part numbers and, in some cases, adapter cables are required (don't even get me started on the multiple variations of the E55 fuel pumps). I'm at work so it will be hit or miss for me to look up the info today.

Here is the fuel pump listed for your particular car and the mounting plate on the other side of the fuel saddle tank with a separate fuel level sensor. No updated parts, additional parts, or adapters shown.
