Question when replacing compressor?

Hi Family,

I'm going to replace my w222 compressor. The shop I'm using usually buys kits that bring a new compressor, drier, expansion valve, etc. They said my kit is on back order for two months. So I'm buying these parts separately and just having them install it because its the summer here in Miami . My question is do I really need a new condenser? Most kits I see don't come with this, and a condenser is not cheap. This is why I ask. Thanks in advance.

And btw, for those wondering the dealer was charging me $7,000.

My opinion: no you don't need a new condenser. This just a scam by the repair industry to fleece consumers.

Compressor along with a drier and it's out the door.

What happened to old system?
All depends on why you are replacing compressor.
For sure replace dryer and Expansion valve.

Did compressor fail and explode internally and let debris go into system?
Or did it just wear out and cannot build as much pressure?

I would cut open old parts and look for meta/plastic debris if you see any.... thenreally check the lines to and from the parts you do not want to replace.
If you see it is Perfectly clean - fine do not replace
See a little debris see if you can remove and have it flushed - see radiator shop. Apply high flow rates of thin fluid into one port and then reverse flow to remove debris and clean internals.

Same thing with Evap. PIA since you have to remove it or find a good shop who can connect to in place.e
Hoses can be easily flushed

Any debris left in system will end up killing your new compressor and then you have to start all over.

All the above learned working with old German INDY MB Mechanic back when I was in HS, this applies to any AC system be it car or home.

Good luck
