PRESAFE Inoperative in Bad Weather
Pre Safe Inoperative occurred yesterday when I was driving in a particularly heavy downpour on I-70 between Baltimore and Frederick, Maryland. Once the rain passed and the road cleared a bit, the error messages disappeared and PRESAFE functions were restored. Doing some research today, it seems that this is a common issue when driving in conditions that hamper visibility and the function of the forward radars.
This behavior is counterintuitive, though once the cause is identified, it is understandable. Just when you might need PRE-SAFE the most, it fails you.

bumper modules
I haven't yet delt with my front PreSafe radars, only rears.
system functions
Apparently there are the 2 front + 2 rear radars that combine as PreSafe. In addition Rear radars provide BlindSpots function.
I don't think the Long range Distronic radar is involved.
solderless radar modules on long undersized harness... failed from factory 👏
Do you have these errors or are your radars more reliable ??
This job requires front bumper out,
harvest the 2x modules
rework the circuit boards
reseal modules + leaky harness connectors

I do get those errors (C120400 & C130400) from time to time. When they occur, Parking Assist is disabled or doesn't work, though no DTCs are stored for Parking Assist.
Are you saying that those errors are caused by loose connections on the circuit boards?

radar module collection
I have already fixed my rear radars modules and the front are the same. So I know it is well sealed and what solderless is inside and how the connector is in charge of channeling water.
I do not have any type of "parking sensors" or "self-parking" option but do have presafe, cross-traffic and all that front/rear safety.
Also the front center radar can be involved. I have wiped the dust from the back of the lens and regained sensitivity to object such as parked cars during turns.

In the SL, getting to the PRE-SAFE controller is too much a PITA. I have to disassemble the inside of the trunk. For now, I can live with periodic problems. When I go to replace my fuel filter, I may then explore getting to the controller since I pretty much have to remove all paneling in the trunk, as well.
