With my S 350 L V221's M272 having just reached 317.000 km (200.000 miles), I'm wondering what's the highest mileage M272 you have ever seen ?
At 235.000 km I replaced the balance shaft, all chain guides, head gaskets (thanks to the way those damn chain guides are engineered...), oil cooler gaskets, exhaust VVT gears, then at 298k or so km, the right intake cam gear and after 300k, intake manifold. I've still got a rattle somewhere, might be the last original vvt gear (intake left) or the chinese exhaust gears, but it seems it's farther towards the passenger compartment ?
I've just watched this video ( ) and I'm starting to worry a bit about the Silitec coating. I plan to change the oil every 10.000 km (6200 miles), I usually end up doing it a bit before 15.000 km (9400 miles). Did anyone ever have trouble with that coating on the M272 / M273 ?
