Stop by your local MB specialist for a transmission service with genuine MB ATF.
The whining is too loud for being steering pump.
Check the serpentine belt condition. Steering assistance quits when belt shreds into pieces.
Next on your maintenance list: brakes inspection.

Hard to be 100% sure without hearing the exact pitch and tone, but a whining noise under acceleration in a CL600 could point to a few common culprits. First thing I’d check is the serpentine belt system — worn idler or tensioner pulleys, or even the supercharger belt if equipped, can create a high-pitched whine that gets louder with RPMs. Also, these V12s are known for ABC (Active Body Control) pump noise when the fluid is low or aerated, which can sound like a whining PS pump.
