Replacing engine wiring harness 129 540 99 06

My engine wiring harness body mounted has been destroyed by engine heat on my 1995 SL320.The arm going to the air mass meter melted when I was jiggling the wire to test it.Oops! On the early 1995s this is a separate harness costing $570.The main engine wiring harness is only $475.Luckily that was replaced by MB under warranty in 1999.So my question is this to all of the master mechanics out there. How difficult is this particular harness to replace?
I have done 2 smaller harnesses and they were not too bad. This harness looks like it has about 15 connections on it.Thanks for any information that you can give me.
