i am looking for the whole rim and donut i guess, but is that the only option? can i get a stock 2000 ml55 amg wheel, and use it as my backup? would it fit in the spare tire box in the trunk? if you can give me an estimate on both it would be very helpfull. thanks again.

the stock tire carrier is good for absolutley nothing but taking up valueable storage space... I have had mine out for over a year now and love it the extra room it freed up. AMGcool where are you located? Im actually going to try and mount mine underneath the car, there has been some exhuast work done on my ML and there is no longer the AMG muffler where the spair is mounted on the NON AMGs. I just have dual pipes coming out of it, looks and sounds so much better!!! If you are in the Mass area I can get a price for you but my dad doesnt ship parts out of his garage.

yup... I have AAA and they can tow me if need be,lol. I have the amg wheel with yokohama tires on it during the summer and snow tires on moda rims during the winter, I rather not deal with the donut they give. Both sets of tires have a descent amount of rubber on them so they wont blow out hitting a pothole and if I have a leak(which I did last summer) I take care of it right away, I figure its a vehicle that needs constant attention to keep running anyways so why deal with a spare... my toyota supra didnt have a spare in it either for some time. I finally put it back in because that is a pretty low profile tire even from the factory with stock wheels on it...

My father also owns a garage so if any work needs to be done I have towed there, the only times I would worry is during loooong trips, just make sure you have a can of fix a flat with you

All of them!
I removed the spare and all the hardware. Saved the air pump and placed it in the right side by the cd changer. I bought a full size spare and mounted it on a Bonarue spare tire carrier the slide into the receiver hitch I also have installed. In the extra space I have installed the third row seats.
You can't mount a larger spare to the factory bracket without spacers (I've tried) and if you did you will not be happy with the loss of space (almost half the width back there). The cover will not go over the full size spare.
I do not carry the spare with me, just the pump. My full size spare goes with me out town only. I figure if I pick up a nail the pump will do for a slow leak. I keep the small spare at home and the large at work so if I would need it I have someone bring it.
I have mounted the spare carrier back in temporarily without the covers for one state trips, but for longer trips I only want the full size outside with cargo area available for luggage or third seats.
The Bonarue spare carrier will still allow you to tow while installed on the rear.
Here's some pics while I was performing the surgery. The last is after arriving in Nova Scotia, no problems with the setup.

WOW, I LIKE THAT!!! Where did you purchase that? Did you put the tow hitch on yourself?

The tire is a Dunlop, wheel is by AMG, carrier made by Bonarue, trailer hitch is from special order Mercedes for the ML55 only.
I did all the work myself. If it was the tire carrier itself you were referring to go to bonarue.com or do a search as you can only buy it from them. A friend of mine bought one for use on his lifted 4x4 excursion with 35's.
