When would delivery be for an August build date??

I am told my vehicle is being built in the middle of August. When would I see it? If anyone has any info on that it would be appreciated.

Daimler-Chrysler, MBUSA, and the plant in Tuscaloosa (among others whom I may not even know about!) decide when MBZ ML, GL, & R models are available in the USA -- not me!

Now, I'm hearing second week in September for the ML63 - and somehow you're upset that I posted this?

Like nothing in the world ever changes? Like people never change their decisions? Like circumstances never change or evolve? Like.... Nevermind. Previous post stands.

Not upset just wondering where you "heard" about the September release date

I am not upset, Just wondering how you "heard" about a September release date. My dealer is telling me otherwise.

I communicate with quite a few people in the car world every week. In case you're fairly new and don't know this: I am involved in the supercar business, and I am an enthusiast myself -- haven't talked or posted about that in some time now....

Sometimes some of what we talk about, or information I am after, or information that they have or have gathered or come across, I post here on these forums.

Not often, but sometimes. If I feel that it is germaine, useful, of interest, or interesting; or if I am utilizing it in a request; or if another member has requested it, or has posted about it. I do alot less of this since the little flare-up that occurred last Winter...unfortunately.

And much of the information which I become aware of in the course of any given week is not appropriate for me to be sharing in posts on these forums -- and so I don't do so with it.

I will have alot more information of interest to these forums and the members here when I begin travelling to and meeting with car manufacturers, and such as AMG; and when I begin the back-and-forth of having a bunch more cars built, and when I am involved in the process of a bunch more being acquired; and when I have a ton of my own questions which I need to have answered, answered....

I am acquiring an ML63 for use in Europe. I may acquire one for use in the USA. I was communicating with someone on this subject yesterday, received the 2nd week of September information, and posted it in response to the discussion in this thread today. That's all.

The corporate guys from Tuscaloosa, and elsewhere in the US, apparently do get some seat time in early production models (or pre-US production modles, I suppose I should say).

How this actually works, how long they get to drive them, how many individuals get the opportunity or are allowed to do so, and whether this is hodge-podge around the country or just in more specific areas -- I don't know the particulars on any of these factors....

But I do know that 'ringers' can often-enough be spotted on the road (and this is apart from the usually camoflagued to some degree 'testers').

2005 SL65
ClayJ...

i went to muvico boca premier tonight. there were no more VIP self-park spots available, so the valets allowed me t park myself on their real estate. while i was parking in a particular spot, i was waved out of it and into another one they'd opened purposefully. they had me park my SL65 next to another SL65, and joked about keeping family together.

so, i'm walking around my car before heading into the theater, and right in front of my face, parked in valet, was an ML63, in what i believe was alpine rain metallic. it had a standard FL plate.

i pointed it out to the valets, who kept saying it was something else...until they read it for themselves. it had fender flares and bumper treatments, and of course the AMG badge. it was definitely the current body, so there was no mistaking it for something else that was modded.

if i hadn't been late, then i'd have gotten the camera from the car and snapped some shots. but i had to exchange tickets i'd prepurchased mistakenly for SCOOP, the new woody allen flick. i have to say that, despite his painfully neurotic one-liners, the story-line came through and won over the audience.

Cool, david_101.

The Alpine Rain stands out, I think, in the color palette....

I am considering that color for my upcoming ML63 - how'd it look on the car to you? Not too dark, not too light?

2005 SL65
ClayJ...

color was just right.

it was about 7:30p. in the dusk, i'd first thought it was the diamond silver i knew from SLs. but it was deeper, more saturated. i chalked up the difference to the bulk of the ML versus the rake of the SL.

when i got home to my system, i looked up the ML build site and found that it had to have been the alpine rain color.

sorry i didn't get pics. next time.

Ha Ha - I've got more than enough pics of both the ML and the R in Alpine Rain....

I am still at this point in time planning on doing an ML63 in the Alpine Rain. I am also considering it for the R63 - but the R is of a size where the color choice is of even more critical importance in my mind. (I will see the color in daylight conditions before making the final choice(s), though).

My favorite choice for exterior color on my ML is what I am calling "Bluetec Blue" -- the color that MBZ is using on all (or at least most that I have seen) of the Blue-tec diesel cars making the publicity appearances at the various shows and in their press releases. I am going to Affalterbach to talk with them about that color - and about spraying it on some of my new MBZ's (as well as getting this year's F1 Silver on a couple of others ).
