Wont come out of park - check enging not lit. Help!
Hello everyone. So I have a 2000 Ml55 Amg - 140k Miles - I'll list what I noticed.
Recently purchased used. A few weeks later...
1.Not coming out of park. (without using a pen to press the override)
2.Went into limp mode.
(Took it in the dealer for the brake light switch recall - still not working.)
3.Speedometer shakes a lot at turn on and at turn off then stops. between 0-10mph marks.
4.No reverse lights - not working.
5.Gear indicator is blank or sometimes displays the wrong gear.
6.Brake lights work.
7.Dealer mentioned the transmission pan is rusted.
8.Delay when I turn the key - 1 sec or so before start.
9.Burning gas like crazy.
10.Been using premium gas as recommended.
11. srs light on. check engine light not on.
Code - P0720 nothing else I know of.
Indy recommended: replacing shifter, another indy replacing transmission range recognition switch. Another indy - replacing output speed sensor and
Already check the transmission module under the dash on the drivers side - no oil there and working.
Since I got it I changed the engine oil and rear brakes.
Battery has Benz logo but I didn't change it .
Any ideas whats going on here? Appreciate the help. Thanks
ps Would a worn tire trigger something with the sensors?
Can i drive around in limp mode - short runs here and there?

Update - Mercedes-Benz Auto Trans Shifter Assembly - Genuine Mercedes 1632601009
The shifter needed replacement.
After the replacement:
The shifter position indicator was displaying
The reverse lights worked
No limp mode
Transmission related codes disappeared.
Cost $750 included parts
1 Day in the shop
