ML500 squealing brakes
I know this is a popular subject with numerous posting on several forums. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a solution.
I have an 02 ML-500 that I purchased about a year ago. The brakes worked great while the temperature was warm. As soon as the fall came and temps started to drop, I would experience severely loud squealing when initially using the brakes. I decided to replace all four rotors and brakes. However, this did not resolve the problem. In fact, the squealing got worse. I then replaced the pads with Akebono ceramic and used the MB anti-squeal brake paste liberally on the back shims and sides of the pads. This helped for a couple weeks but then the squealing came back. It generally occurs first thing in the morning when I reverse and stop and the first few forward stops. Then it's fine for the entire day (even if it sits for 8-9 hours). The problem is mainly in the mornings. It drives me crazy!!! Has anyone figured out how to permanently resolve this issue?

Here's an update on my squealing brake issue....
I ended up spraying the outside caliper, brake pad and rotor surface with brake cleaner hoping to quiet things down for the day. Interestingly this was 2 weeks ago and the brakes have remained quiet 99% of the time even with major variations in the temperature (cold --> extremely cold --> cool). I'm not sure if this is going to last but so far it looks promising and if it comes back I will spray it again.
