My 2012 ML63 Problems and fixes thread...sigh
Documenting my journey with some problems ive got an hopefully some fixes as we go along. I've got a 2012 ML63 AMG, picked it up 4yrs ago with 60k miles, bought a new ecu and put a v5 eurocharged tune on it (turned the car into the animal a 5.5l tt should be). Now with 110k miles.
The car has been good, but have been battling an engine light for misfire and low voltage on cam sensors. Had mechanic replace one, but problems came back. Also just did spark plugs as they're old and went to a cooler plug to suit tune.
Recently I had the car serviced by an actual MB dealer as i wanted firmware updates applied and also the sun roof air vent thing that pops up came out and flaps around when driving. As expected the dealer did the bare minimum and gave me the bad news that i need a new wiring loom as oil has got in there. I asked howthat could happen and explained that cam sensors can leak and oil seaps into the loom. Oh i thought so you will just book that in noting there is a known problem and fix right...no no $12k repair WTF!
So naturally i said bye and headed to the forums to find solutions. callout to rossco who had the same issue with his car and was kind enough to have a chat with me about how he fixed it. Also there is a recall for this issue but it doesnt apply to 2012 models. I also found a recall for the acr oil resivor leaking which is another problem i have. Asked the dealer they said its not a problem on my car... um but its leaking bro, look! No use trying to tell them.
I'll be having my mechanic replace the cam sensors and add the dongle attachments as listed in the initial recall for oil in wiring loom. Then we will clean every connector possible on the harness. There is no oil evident on the ecu plugs either which is a good sign. And see how we go. Rossco said it took a few goes to clear it allout for him. Also swapped the ecu back to stock just incase.
As for the ACS resivor ive now taped the bugger on and will figure out how to put a proper cap that doesnt leak on there with mechanic.
Sunroof, spent 20min with my wifes help jaming the rubber back up into the groove and so far its good. I dont think 50mph+ is something theyre supposed to handle. Time will tell.
Later.

Mine were replaced, but I'm not aware of the dongle attachment. Any part number or photos?
