recommended tire pressure?

Similar situation
do not mean to jump on older thread. Found your notes when searching on this topic. Just drove home my pre-owned 2009 ML350. Noticed the drive seemed somewhat different than previous test drives on same vehicle. Checked tp and found 39, 38, 37, 35 lbs (not in that order :o). Will drive this afternoon with adjusted tp to see changes.
thanks for the reminder I saw here to "reset the tp sensor".

This is what I did after talking to some race junkies...
38's all around at cold.
41 after about 20 min of hwy driving automatically with the heat.
38's all around are ideal, they are safe from 0-110mph not that im going that fast ever, but more highway stability is always a plus.

Tire pressure
The gas cap is more reasonable - 35F/35R w/ minimum load, up to 41F/44R at maximum GVW. Adding 4 lbs for speeds over 100 at maximum load or warm tires yields the B pillar figures. 38 all around is probably just fine, though for light loads moderately driven 35 will be more comfortable. The label indicates to see manual for spare pressure, which list 61 psi.

If you type into Google: "tire pressure"
the folowing links comes up, & most of them states to check the pressures listed on the door pillar, then owner's manual. Very few also recommend the fuel filler cap.

2011 M3, 2012 ML63
My ML63 came from the dealer with 45 all around (20 in wheels). I realized this because every time I started the vehicle, I got a message in the center area to check tire pressures. I moved them down to 38, reset the monitoring system and the message has gone away. 45 seems very high for normal loads and driving.

been toying with pressures
Howdy gents,
I am running 36 in the front and 38 in the rear, and the ride is still a bit harsh.
I bought a new digital reader this wek (making sure my old gauge isn't at fault) and will check to see if that read is accurate. My TPM on the Benz says I am a lot higher than what the hand-held is reading.
BUT all i know is that coming down from what I think was the 40's (psi) has reduced the road impact I was feeling tremendously, and my suspicion is I need to bring it down even a bit more.
Hope y'all are finding the right balance for your 2012 SUV's

My tire gauge was off as well - think 35 is the right advice
An update from my side: bought a new digital reader from Slime. Turns out my old gauge, also made by Slime, was off by about 3-4 pounds. So I set my ML's tires at 36 in front and 37 in the rear with the new reader. Feels WAY better (AND the reading also matches the TPM, they are 100% synced!)
After driving the last couple of days the truck is cornering much more crisply, seems to be holding traction a lot better. And the ride quality is much more comfortable.
I DO have a suspicion I am a tad high in pressure even still, and from my experience the last few months I believe the above posts that state 35psi all around (cold) are tracking to be an ideal target for the ML 350 2012...

2012 ML 350 BlueTec tire pressure
My answer to all the confusion over correct tire pressure! I have labels posted 2 on door pillar & one on gas filler door. Each says something different! I asked 2 different MB dealers only to receive yet again different answers. My answer was to buy a tire tread gauge at Autozone & for the past 15,000 miles (currently have 24980 miles) I have monitored the wear with front set at 41 psi & rear at 44 psi. All my tires are wearing even across the tread, not under or over inflated. At this mileage point I have just under 7 mm remaining. Tires are the Continental 255/50 R19. I also run nitrogen rather then air. Most of the driving is with 2 people & normal luggage (2-3 suitcases), highway mileage at cruising speed +. Through the use of the tread gauge I was able to detect a slight wear on the inside of my left front & outside of the right front. MB checked aliment & found it out slightly. I rotate every 5,000 miles. My guess is I'll get 35,000 easy from these tires. When I email Continental their answer was whatever MB says, great help. I have a friend with a 2011, same tires, & he was running 34 psi front & rear, after 6,800 miles his wear is almost same as mine with 24,890. To low a psi!!

Yes, you are increasing tread life at that pressure 41/44, but most owners prefer the trade off in better handling at 38/38 - your buddy was way too low.
Let me be clear - the driver door jamb #'s are fracking meaningless, fuel filler door are actual MB recommended - but again almost all owners I personally know after experimentation end up at 38/38 roughly.
Continentals last 1/3 of tread do get "harsch" - Michelin a bit less so but get harsh about 20% tread remaining.
