Which Tyre Size ?

Hi!
I have a ML350 ,2013 . Done about 7000 miles but front tyres are gone /needs alignment.I have Continental cross contact UTH on now.My current tyres are 265/40/R21.

I have a few questions and will appreciate advice. I find that I hit the curbs a lot and have damaged the edges.
What is the best replacement tyres?
Can I go for wider tyre ( looks good )? How wide can I go ?
Can I , in this rim size, have tyres which are higher so I do not damage the tyres at curbs?
Which is the bet ones to go for ? Shall I change all four 2 need changing but I do not wish them to look different .
Many thanks

Not meaning to be rude, but doesn't your ML350 have Active Park Assist? If so, how do you smack kerbs? Or do you hit them whilst driving?

I cant offer advice on replacement tyre sizes, but your local tyre shop should be able to offer some assistance with that. Having higher profile tyres wont prevent you from damaging the tyres, may save your rims a little though.

As long as the rear tyres are still safe, roadworthy and undamaged I cant see why you would replace them. Running different brands of tyres wont have an effect on vehicle performance.

If hitting kerbs is going to be a continual occurrence, I would recommend getting more frequent wheel alignments and rotations done (every 5,000kms).

Thanks for your helpful advice. Not rude at all.
I do not have Active park assist , it does not come as standard in UK.
hit the rims often while parking close to the Kerb , need to be more careful!
The rims are getting damaged so higher tyres I think will be good , Can I put them without
having to change my current rims ?
I will take your advice on wheel alignment/ rotation.
Thanks again

Active parking

Active park assist is standard on all ML350 Bluetec from late 2012 onwards.

Check for the little parking sign when travelling below 20mph.

Thats very interesting comment . I will be so pleased if it has active parking assist /APA ,but also disappointed as I have had the car from new. Delivered in October 2012, made around late august/ early september. There was an option for APA but it was for a price I recall.I got Command system and intelligent light but no APA.
I have noticed a small p at low speed but never when I am parking or slow or any other time.
Any advice on how to check or activate it ?

I know there is some debate about exactly when they switched from park assist (manual steering) and active (auto steering)

My 350 was built in November 2012 and was standard then.

If you see the P in the dash, then if there is a compatible space you will see an arrow pointing to the left, if you see that, you should be able to activate it by engaging reverse.

Let me know how you get on.

I am running 295/40/20 on ML63 AMG wheels(20x10)
I have Continental DWS tires with 20,000 miles on them, still more than 50% life on the the tires.I am very happy with them. Sounds strange that you need tires already after 7,000 miles. You can probably go wider tire but it depends on how wide the rims are, also if you go wider yo have to replace all 4 tires.

I went with Pirelli Scorpion 285/35/22 on Vossen 22x9. Kudos to Need4Speed - Glendale, CA.

The 10's would stick out a bit much on the standard ML350 for my liking. I think that the AMG body is wider so you could get the 10's in there and it would look very nice.
