Renntech or Supersprint exhaust for ML500/ML550

Hi guys

I was planning on changing the exhaust of my ml500, I really hate having quite exhaust on a 400hp+ car , also hate the way Mercedes hides the exhaust.

So I was looking on the internet and came across 3 different exhaust systems or muflers i would say :0

I was thinking of getting Brabus with a valve controlling unit which is really good but really pricey + I have to change the rear valance in order to install it. That would be (around $7600+shipping)

The other choice is Renntech mufflers which doesn't really change the appearance of the rear but has good sound as I was told. So I would have to custom make exhaust tips in order to make it appear.

here is a link to the exhaust http://www.renntechmercedes.com/www/node/1166

The last choice is Supersprint F1 catback. The good thing about this is that I can chose if I want the stock look or with a quad tips just like brabus. So that would cost me around ( $5600 with Brabus rear valance)

link to the exhaust
http://www.supersprint.com/en/IT/pro...093E280BA.aspx

Overall, this is the look I'm leaning towards

I'm thinking to buy supersprint exhaust with quad tips and brabus rear valance, but I'm not sure if the tips will fit nicey just like the pics.

Any help or suggestions would really appreciate it. And Excuse my English

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, Roberto of Supersprint Italy here.
Sorry for the intrusion.
I took the libery to make a quick comparison photoshop:

As you can see the centre and the height of the Supersprint 120x80 tailpipes and the Brabus (Ø80mm?) is very close if not identical. This means that the exit pipes of the Supersprint system would arrive in the middle of the brabus bumper valance, then a set of 1->2 tips should be fitted. As we haven't got the exact measures of this bumper we cannot provide a plug&play set. We could provide the pre-assembled tips and y-pipes but they'll need some adjustment and final welding.

The Supersprint centre pipes 849413 (plus 721453 adaptors) and rear F1 Race muffler will sound very similar to this:

Installed the Renntech exhaust this morning... two words: holy sh*t! This brings alive the ML550 and fills the void I was missing from my AMG's. It is near impossible to wipe the smile off my face driving this thing now... Best Mercedes-Benz I have ever owned...

Both are great systems

I have provided both to clients and they have never had a bad thing to say about them

Glad you like it. I love mine too. Completely transforms the truck. I can't stop myself from putting it in neutral at red lights to tap the throttle a few times.

I didn't hear the supersprint. Is it similar?

So I spoke too soon... a lot of resonance, drone, and vibration after installation. I only have 12k miles on my ML550 and none of the above was present prior. My shop has double-checked everything and don't see any issues as it is all soft-mounted using factory mount points. I am working with Renntech to resolve this one way or another. The customer service initially was very poor but there has been some improvement in their response once it was escalated.

We offer some bolt on downpipes for the non-AMG V8 BiTurbo. These pipes are in stock and I can ship them worldwide quickly and cheaply. These are off-road downpipes so they do not have a cat and you would need to add a tune to shut off the check engine light.

They install easily and do not require any fabrication. The stock pipes can be reinstalled in less than 15 minutes with basic hand tools. These are in stock and ready for immediate delivery.

Check them out on our website at- RADO Performance Parts

When are you getting a drone/vibration? I have zero vibration and only a slight "drone" on extended uphill driving(light throttle at highway speeds with low rpm and distronic set.) it's definitely nothing I find irritating.

I get it all the time through the floorboards, the center console, the driver's door, among other areas. Third gear is the worst but it is noticeable on the highway. Renntech has not been helpful and challenged the installation, which is quite simple. The installer and I believe that it is bad packing in the mufflers, but Renntech says it's not possible, even though they source them and don't build them. They are going back as it is unbearable.

The worst part of this experience is Renntech - they have not been customer-focused at all.

That sounds terrible, I don't have any issues like that at all. As far as challenging the installation, that's pretty comical. It took my shop about 25 minutes. Cut off the OE couch-sized muffler, apply their sealant and tighten two bolts. If I hadn't had shoulder surgery I would have gladly done it myself. As far as their customer service goes, the salesman I purchased the mufflers from was my "best friend" when I had questions and was getting ready to order them, multiple emails/phone calls a day... After I received them I had a few questions, my delayed replies via email turned into very curt messages at best. A short time after that I received an email from renntech that I had a new contact to deal with so I'll do my best to withhold judgement and see how things are if I get the ECU tune, I'm hoping they will improve though it's tough to be optimistic after hearing about your experience. Hopefully they'll make good on the mufflers for you.

My team found the issue... one of the mufflers has the weld for the tailpipe in a different spot than the other and it turns the tailpipe up about a half-inch, which we believe is causing the vibration to begin in the rear valance/bumper. Tim from Renntech told me they don't even manufacture the mufflers - they are sourced - so I guess the marketing is just that...

Hard to rigorously test something you don't make... Renntech was attentive during the sale but no help after the fact and barely responsive. I won't deal with them again.

Here are images of the build "quality" of the Renntech sport mufflers. I shipped them back today... You can see the welds aren't even close and that one of them is shorter and turned a different angle. At this price point, that lack of quality is unacceptable.

In the end, I received a refund from Renntech. I am out the monies for labor. One thing I do know is that Renntech is not a company that I will do business with in the future.

Good to hear that they at least did something for you. I have finally decided to go with supersprint exhaust. Its a matter of days until i receive it. Also going to replace the rear bumper to ML63 AMG. I have also found a shop that does ECU tuning, quoted me a price of about 2800 euros for PPPerformance Stage 1 which boosts around 500hp. Good stuff are coming. I will try to share everything here.

I'm glad you choose our product. If you need any help let me know, looking forward to hear your feedback as you're probably the 1st one to make the ML63 conversion on a 500.
