parking sensors and wipers going "crazy" in the snow

With all the snow we've been having this year, my wife's ML has been exhibiting some unusual symptoms on snowy days: i) the wipers, although on low setting, will suddenly speed up (so much so you can actually here them "thumping" as they go side to side) and eventually return to normal speed...almost like they're trying to shake any accumulated snow/ice off; and ii) at low speeds the parking sensors will just go off randomly - not sure if it's due to snow/ice build up on the sensors, although she knows to clean them off periodically (I've never experienced this on any other car with parking sensors though).

Anyone else experience these issues? Thoughts?

I have the SAME problem with the sensors. I think it is a mix of dirt and extreme cold. EVERYTIME temp goes below 20C the parking sensors go nuts.

Salt and dirt on the sensors. Press the button to turn them off.

I turn the sensors off on heavy snow days. They just end up being distracting. The Vehicle re-arms them every time you start the vehicle. In the winter during heavy snow weeks, I simply map the function to my start button to be able to quickly arm/disarm them. Only takes a second to map that function and it works really well.

Thanks for the replies...so the parking sensors are an easy "fix", but does anyone else have an issue with their wipers periodically having spasms of warp speed with snow or ice on them?

are u
The wipers have rain sesnsors that are probably not dealing well with snow or ice. Can you just turn them to one of the fixed speed settings!
