ML350 Bluetec w166 jerking / stalling on low RPM after oil fuel filter replacement
I have an ML350 bluetec at 60,000km just replaced oil filter, diesel fuel filter, cabin filters.
The car was running fine until it warmed up. when its warm, at low rpm the car is jerking / engine is choking almost like is out of fuel between 1000 and 1500 RPM
does anyone have any idea what this may be?
before the fuel and oil filter change everything was running smooth as butter.
If you could help me with some ideas i would really appreciate it
thank you

Dont know if this is related, but I went into limp mode with engine light on the day I picked up my CPO. It took them a few days to say that the oil filter was installed incorrectly, therefore limp mode. I honestly thats bs.
Only time I can see a problem with filter is if it is slowing down the flow of oil.

Thank you Mike.
I dont have any error on the dash board and no oil sensor is on
I am thinking if it may have something to do with the engine filters that i have replaced
its very unusual that the car works fine when is cold and as soon as it warms up, this shaking of the engine happens when i barely touch the gas pedal
almost as its out of fuel and will shut off, and once it goes over 1500 rpm it works normal

My bet is you have an air leak somewhere, either a hose off or something not correctly fitted. When engine is cold, it will be enriched(similar to a chocked carb), once it warms up it will run lean with an air leak. Do diesels have mafs? maybe a cable unplugged...?

I had the same problem and it turns out to be the transmission. Mine is 2012 ML350 Bluetec. Transmission got replaced and problem solved. Luckily I have extended warranty; otherwise, I have to pay big.

Hi, had the same jerking, sputter after changing out the fuel filter in mine. My bet is your air manifold intake seal/ O-ring isn't making a proper seal. The car will start fine, but will hesitate when accelerating. The system has to be a CLOSED system to flow properly. If the O-ring (thin) is bunched up at all, it will leaked air, and the engine will be anything but smooth. Pull the Air Manifold(#16) and inspect the O-ring(#17)
good luck....

I just got this exact problem in December. Did a search and find this thread. Just want to update others that this problem might also cause by the transmission which is what happen to me.

I took in my 2015 bluetec for service and when I got it back it was jerking when the car was cold and I was driving it down the street. It worked fine before I brought it in for service. Did you find out what was wrong with it? I just took it in for the 3rd time this morning for them to look at it. Any ideas would be appreciated!
